Getting your home ready to sell...
What can you do to make your home more appealing to buyers?
"First impressions are everything," said Alissa Prentice, Realtor at EXIT Greater Realty. "In today's market, more than 90% of home buyers start their home search online, so photos of your home become the first reason buyers choose to look at your property over others listed in the area. The first thing we usually ask homeowners to do for picture day is is to deep clean and declutter their home. Move garbage cans out of the front yard, put toys away and keep dishes and sponges out of the sink, clear beauty products off your bathroom countertops, etc. It helps buyers see the potential for keeping their own things in their new home, rather than feeling like they are looking at the home of a stranger.
If you're handy, there are definitely things you can do to decrease the amount of time that your property will be on the market. Experts suggest washing and painting your walls, fixing any windows that don't open or close well, and ensuring that all your light fixtures have new, bright bulbs.
